MINUTES

SUSQUEHANNA TOWNSHIP REGULAR MEETING
BOARD OF HEALTH MARCH 18, 2010

The Regular Meeting of the Susquehanna Township Health Board met and was called to order by President Richard Bronstein at 12:14 p.m. in the Susquehanna Room at the Susquehanna Township Municipal Building.

A motion was made by Bruce Goodman, M..D. and seconded by Dr. Bakare, M.D. to accept the Health Board Minutes from February 18, 2010 meeting. The motion passed unanimously.

CITIZENS: None

LYNN’S REPORT:

Aagan at Harrisburg, Rose’s Vietnamese Cuisine and The Pan Tree Restaurant failed the routine inspections. Follow-up inspections will occur shortly.

OLD BUSINESS:

Garrison System is being finalized. Training has started. The system should be ready for use in April of this year.

NEW BUSINESS:

Extensive discussion occurred over the existing Property Maintenance Ordinance for High Grass and Weeds, Section 302.4 and amending the ordinance to include invasive species. There was a motion made by Bruce Goodman, M.D. to have Bruce Foreman, Solicitor for Susquehanna Township to draft an amendment to the current Property Maintenance Ordinance and to be discussed at the April Health Board Meeting. The amendment was to include Obnoxious Weeds to include any weed where the property owner can plant but not allow to go to the neighbor’s property.

Discussion also occurred over what trees you can plant and what trees that you cannot plant and also assisting residents with trimming of the trees. The guidelines for trees height is 8 ft above sidewalks and 14 ft above the streets.


Discussion also was done about the yard waste portion of the existing Penn Waste Contract and possibly eliminating the months of December through February. Having additional collections during the months of April, May and October. Manager Gary Myers will check into this matter and report back to the Health Board at the April Meeting.

A motion was made by Carol Peters and seconded by Dr. Bakare, M.D. to adjourn. The Health Board meeting was adjourned at 12:37p.m.


Next Health Board Meeting will be held on Thursday, April 15, 2010 at Noon
